We began homeschooling in 2020 at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Cases were sky-rocketing in our area well past the determined levels for the school board to have online education protocols in place. What does our school board do? Move the goal posts. Buckling to the weight of complaints, they opened school up as usual. We decided then to homeschool our crew.
Moving beyond that, we found that homeschool works best for our crew of neuro-spicy (ADHD, Anxiety, Processing Disorders, etc). This is how, 3 years later, we are starting year 3 of our homeschool journey. This is not without it’s interesting challenges.
For instance, it is assumed that as a homeschooler in the South, we are automatically conservative on the political and social realms. I can’t even count the number of times people have cited their reason for homeschooling is to “protect their children from the woke agenda.”
Here…we are the woke agenda. *shrug*
